Cherry Hill Coffee helps warm up Kelowna Women’s Shelter

kws_cocoa4.jpgCherry Hill Coffee is pleased to announce the donation of twenty cases of hot chocolate (and marshmallows!) to the Kelowna Women’s Shelter. Over 6,000 single serve packages will be given to the hundreds of women and children who use the emergency shelter.

The latest cold snap had employees at Cherry Hill Coffee wondering what they could do to warm up the spirits of those less fortunate in the community. Hopefully this donation brings a little comfort to those in need of help and puts a smile on the face of the children caught in a difficult situation.

When asked how the idea presented itself, Jeff Biglow commented, “We had a manager’s meeting last week and it was 7am and -18˚, and naturally the weather was the main topic of discussion. All of a sudden we started thinking maybe there was something we could do for people who were going through tough times – now just seemed like the perfect opportunity. The Kelowna Women’s Shelter sounded like an excellent choice for the donation of hot cocoa.”

“You always try to give back (to the community) when you can.” he added.

The Kelowna Women’s Shelter can always use and support. You can help out by donating any gently used clothing and household items to the Kelowna Women’s Shelter Thrift Store at 527 Lawrence Avenue or to become a volunteer call (250) 763-1040.
